Orleans Landbridge Shoreline Protection, PO-36

Cost: $25 Million
Dismantled and removed the old I-10 Twin Span bridge, breaking and screening the concrete rubble into graded base and riprap material. Graded Riprap rubble used to fill 5’x1.5’x39’ geogrid mattresses and placed on approximately 39,275 lf of shoreline.
Project also included Survey, Dredging, Backfill, Warning Signs and Aerial Photography.

Biloxi Marsh Shoreline Protection Project, PO-72
Location: Lake Borgne, St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana

Cost: $14.7 Million
The Biloxi Marsh Shoreline Protection Project involved placing 20,000+ LF of shoreline protection. Bertucci performed construction surveying and staking, then placed geotextile / geogrid composite and pinned with two wind rows of bedding stone. Lightweight aggregate (LWA) was encapsulated in geotextile bags and used to build the core of the shoreline protection. The LWA core was then armored with approximately 145,000 tons of armor stone. At specified, regular intervals along the profile of the dike, settlement plates were installed and surveyed in order to monitor settlement.

Mitigation at Ransom Point
Location: Redfish Bay, Corpus Christi, Texas

Cost: $4 Million
This rock breakwater project consisted of the placement of geotextile and the placement of stone. The project was located in a large open bay adjacent to and affected by weather conditions in the Gulf of Mexico. The project was built in shallow water (3’ to 4’) using light loaded barges.

17th Street Canal Permanent Canal Closure and Pumps

Cost: $11 Million
This project consisted of the excavation, segregation, and disposal of over 35,000 tons of regulated and unregulated materials, trucking of materials, placement of geotextile fabrics, removal and disposal of existing piling structures, canal sweeps, excavating slopes to meet specified lines and grades, placement and management of turbidity curtain, on site segregation of stone gradations, placement of filter and armor stones to construct scour protection and to redirect water flow from the canal by means of a training berm.

Operation Watershed Morganza Control Structure Scour Repairs
Location: Morganza Louisiana

Cost: $2 Million
The Morganza Control Structure Scour Repair project involved the repair of previous scour damages, placement of geotextile filter fabric, and placement of approximately 75,000 tons of armor stone to provide protection against future scouring. First, the existing scour damage was graded out by dozer. Crews then installed geotextile filter fabric, which, after the placement of 125LB bedding stone, was keyed in to prevent any future scouring. 2200 LB armor stone was then placed and paved to construct a stability berm and 2-4 ton derrick stone was placed to provide added support to the spillway structure.

Trinity River and Tributaries, Texas Channel to Liberty Smith Point
Location: Chambers County, Texas

Dates of Construction: October 2002 - August 2003
Cost: $2.7 Million
Job consisted of providing and pumping approximately 1 mile of geotubes to construct a containment area for dredged material. Geotubes were +/- 150’ long and 25’ – 44’ in diameter.

Lake Pontchartrain and Vicinity Hurricane Protection Levee Reach 1 and 2 Berm Enlargement and Foreshore
Location: Kenner, Louisiana

Dates of Construction: April 2011 - August 2013
Cost: $28 Million
Berm enlargement project in Jefferson Parish Louisiana which is similar to the port enlargement involving widening an existing berm by placing more than 650,000 tons of material over the 3.2 mile site. Materials consisted of a 315,000 tons of 2200# stone, 108,000 tons of sand, and 210,000 tons of clay. All materials delivered by barge.
